How do you document tests that don’t work?

We’ve been trying to keep project notes useful without turning every experiment into a report. What do you write down after a test fails? A photo and one sentence? Measurements? The guess you started with? I’m curious what actually helps you pick the work back up a week later.

We keep a quick table: what changed, what we expected, what happened, next test. A phone photo beside it saves us from writing a paragraph about where the part sat.

For film tests, I save the setup and one frame that shows the problem. It makes it much easier to remember why I changed the light later.
